About the Artist

Hi there!

Thank you for stopping by my website! I'm Julie Hilboldt, the artist behind Hilboldt Studios.

Ever since I can remember I've been a bit of an artist...hence the photo below.  Yes, that kid is really me! But I'm willing to bet that drawing didn't even make it on the fridge. Although I always managed to keep art around me, I didn't pursue art full time until 2019.

I'm from St. Louis and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Marketing. I incorporated art into my routine through a Fine Arts Minor and gallery internships, but ultimately obtained a digital marketing job upon graduation. Let's just say it didn't take long for me to realize that the corporate world wasn't for me.  At that point, I was ready to go back to school.

In January of 2019, I began my pursuit for a Master of Fine Arts at Fontbonne University. Studying painting and drawing at Fontbonne was so rewarding. I had some of the most dedicated professors who not only immensely improved my artistic abilities, but also provided inspiration through their encouragement and dedication.

I graduated with my MA in 2020 and my MFA in the Spring of 2021. Afterwards I  balanced my own personal art practice with teaching art. I was lucky enough to teach both elementary students as well as college level students.

By fall of 2021 I started the process of opening my own gallery. For a year I created and showed my work in the downtown Clayton area of St. Louis. I loved getting to share my art with individuals in person and meet so many wonderful artists in my own hometown.

After a year in my gallery, I decided to go back to a private studio to focus on my art. I've loved getting to experience these different sides of my art career and I'm looking forward to everything coming next.

Thanks again for visiting my shop! Your support means so much to me and is very appreciated. If you have any questions about my work or just want to say hello, please reach out to me in the contact form below!
